There are many factors that will influence the duration of treatment results. Factors such as clients age, skin type, life style and muscle activity will all affect how long it takes for Juvederm products to be broken down.
Once totally absorbed the gel disappears unnoticed from the body. Most clients require follow-up treatment six to twelve months after an initial treatment for wrinkles or facial contouring. Following lip augmentation clients typically require top up treatments between 3 and 6 months.
It is normal to experience slight redness, swelling, tenderness or an itching sensation in the treatment area. Any discomfort is temporary and generally resolves within a few days. If the discomfort continues or if other reactions occur our dedicated clinical staff will be on hand to advise. A touch-up treatment within 2-4 weeks after the initial treatment may be necessary to ensure the desired results have been achieved.
Possible side effects include swelling, redness, pain, itching, discoloration and tenderness at the injection site. These side effects typically resolve within a few days following treatment (and within a week for lip augmentation).
More serious reactions following treatment with Juvéderm® products are very rare (1 in 2000). localized reactions due to hypersensitivity can consist of swelling at the injection site and surrounding tissue. Redness, tenderness, and nodule formations have also been reported. These reactions can be evident within a few days following treatment or a delay of two to four weeks.
